Identità trans, lesbica e gay in Italia

In altri paesi, i temi trattati da questo convegno sono oggetto di studi approfonditi in universities and high-level cultural debates in newspapers and on television. Not so in Italy, where there seems to be a mess. Social representations of homosexuality and transsexuality are often overlapping, deformed, spectacularized. The result is the failure of that democratic process that should lead to true equality for citizens regarding the rights and promote a community in which they can freely express identity and sexuality of people.
The conference will first of all inform. The two days have both an introductory part where you try to outline the cultural, historical and social importance of homosexuality and transsexualism, as well as the complex relationship they had and have to psychoanalysis and psychiatry. Emphasis will be placed to the latest theories and new fields of study ( lesbian, gay, queer, gender studies ) that are not yet in Italy, but we imagine and we hope to find more and more adequate space in the area university.
We will continue addressing current and emerging issues such as homophobia and gay and lesbian parenting in the first day, transsexualism in childhood and transphobia in the second.
The structure of the conference is designed with a view cross-participation, for promote a dialogue that is often missing, in which the actions of teachers and representatives of cultural and social realities of our country will be supported by action in discussion and presentation of contributions by young psychologists and psychologists.
